General description :
Diggi, daggi, shurry, murry, horum, harum? with this magic formula, the young shepherd Bastien will be able to win back the heart of his beloved shepherdess Bastienne?
Composed by the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the age of twelve and inspired by a work by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, this opera tells the story of the thwarted love of the shepherds Bastien and Bastienne, aided by the magician Colas, and is distinguished by its freshness, simplicity and accessible melodies blending song and spoken dialogue.
In Mirabelle Ordinaire?s staging, the action is transposed to a contemporary funfair: Bastien becomes a stand mechanic, visitors shoot cardboard wolves, and the musicians play in a bandstand. Presented in French, this colorful, festive adaptation makes the work clear and accessible to all audiences, while remaining faithful to Mozart?s spirit.
