General description :
In Spain, several hundred villages were submerged in the lakes of hydraulic dams throughout the twentieth century, a massive phenomenon unlike any other country in Europe. Atlas Oculto is a film that explores the imaginary world of this water people, erased from all maps and collective memory. It's a tale of struggle and resilience, for the dignity of the mountain dwellers, in the face of abandonment by public authorities. Behind the scenes, the film also recounts the attempt to map this erasure on the scale of the whole of Spain. Anne-Laure creates a map of the sunken villages, and gathers the memory of the scattered inhabitants in a symbolic place that she fashions: a village of clay.
