It is in the municipality of Bourdettes, close to the walled town of Nay, that you will find one of the last workshops manufacturing cowbells in France. Here, at the foot of the Pyrenees, where pastoralism and transhumance are still present, the Maison Daban (founded in 1795) works with iron plates to make bells that are brazed in a vacuum oven. These bells are real "musical instruments" of mountain livestock. In the workshops and thanks to a video, visitors learn about this know-how that has been passed down for seven generations. Its superior expertise earned it the "Living Heritage Company" label.
