Established in 1661, Notre-Dame de Piétat is a sanctuary dedicated to the Marian worship. It is the place of a pilgrimage which fame is above all from Bearn, but which attends the XIXth and XXth centuries a small international prominance. This route presents, through the discovery of the sanctuary and its neighborhood, the big steps of the local history of Piétat. One put in perspective with Bétharram, the other one as a big Marian sanctuary of the Pays de Nay, enlightens the emergence of the big Pyrenean pilgrimages up to Lourdes.
